how to create eth0:1

Wondering if its possible to create eth0:1 with slack easy way like with redhat when creating /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:1?

whats the proper way to do the same with slack and to have it start up while booting same as eth0?

Hopefully not with vconfig

Thanks!

Hey matters,

Well, I just added this to /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf:

Code:
# Config information for eth0:
IPADDR[0]="192.168.57.3"
NETMASK[0]="255.255.255.0"
USE_DHCP[0]=""
DHCP_HOSTNAME[0]=""

# Config information for eth0:1
IFNAME[5]="eth0:1"
IPADDR[5]="192.168.1.3"
NETMASK[5]="255.255.255.0"
USE_DHCP[5]=""
DHCP_HOSTNAME[5]=""
It might not be "the right way", but it sure does work for me.

/Thomas

Just look at the file - it's all in there. Slackware's scripts are well commented.
