How to built menu from scratch // System > Update Menu not present

I have installed OpenOffice 3.4.1 recently. When I go to K -> Applications -> Office and click on any of the OpenOffice application, say Word Processor, nothing opens.

After searching for a while, I found that this can be fixed by going to K -> Applications -> System -> update menu and then selecting built from scratch.

But in Slackware 14, I don't see it. How to fix/accomplish this?

If you right click on the KDE menu icon you can choose the Edit Applications option and fix the OpenOffice shortcuts manually. You'll need to have widgets unlocked for this to work.

Ok, this is one way to fix it. But I was hoping to fix all of it in one go via 'update menu'. Is it still there? Or this is the only way.

Plus I am not aware of where OpenOffice was installed(Sorry for this but I am new to slackware and linux). I should know the full path if I have to manually fix it, right?

OpenOffice has probably installed into the /opt folder.

Mandrake used to have such a command (for updating menus) but I don't know if Slackware has an equivalent.

OpenOffice is indeed installed in /opt. I solved this problem by going to the /xdg and then I made all the files executable and it solved the problem. Now I am able to open from the KDE menu as well.

But here's another problem. I was trying to open it from commandline and when I typed "openoffice.org3 -calc" I received the following error but it had opened the calculator though.

Code:

(soffice:3610): Gtk-WARNING **: /opt/openoffice.org3/program/../basis-link/ure-link/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by /usr/lib64/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/liboxygen-gtk.so)

(soffice:3610): Gtk-WARNING **: /opt/openoffice.org3/program/../basis-link/ure-link/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by /usr/lib64/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/liboxygen-gtk.so)

How do I solve this.
