How to add a text banner

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to set up my Slackware boxes at work to display a warning message on either the kdm or gdm login screen. I also need for the same message to display when loggin in through ssh, ftp or remotely for that matter. And by warning message, I mean a text that displays telling them this computer is for official use only, blah, blah, etc. The reason I'm trying to do this is that my employeer requires them. Thanks in advanced for the help.

I did a search on the forums for "motd" (Message of The Day) and these are the result. I hope they work out for you.

What I did for KDE is I edited the /etc/X11/gdm/PreSession/Default

I added the following line under the -l $DISPLAY $USER" line

/usr/X11R6/bin/xmessage -buttons OK:1 -center -file /etc/issue

This creates a popup window after the login/password action before the desktop loads that must be clicked off by a mouse action before the desktop will load. Just put whatever your message is in the /etc/issue file or change the path in the Default to point to whatever file you want to have displayed.
