Question How should I use nvidia-switch before re-building kernel?

Hello!

Since I would like to rebuild my kernel to enable 64Gb support (I have 4Gb) and I have installed nvidia propietary driver from SlackBuilds.org, I would like to know how to properly use the nvidia-switch before and after rebuilding.

Should I use nvidia-switch --xorg before rebuilding and nvidia-switch --nvidia after doing so or will I have to install drivers again after compiling kernel?

I will appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance,
Glore2002.-

"Not at all" would be the correct answer. nvidia-switch is only for the userspace part of the nvidia-graphics-driver. Rebuild and install your new kernel, then run the nvidia-kernel script again. Something like this should work:
Code:
KERNELVERSION=2.6.24.new ./nvidia-kernel.SlackBuild
This will generate a nvidia-kernel package for the new kernel.
If you want to keep the old kernel-module be sure to install the nvidia-kernel package using "installpkg", as "upgradepkg" will delete the old one.
