I bought a new desktop PC today because I could not run Android Studio without invoking the OOM killer. I will be moving the harddisk from the old to the new computer though... does not count as "reinstalling" I guess ;-)

I've my current at home since first release with version and architecture in package names. This was 7.1 or 8.0, I cannot recall it now. It survived couple main board/processor/hard disk switch - not counting lesser upgrades. History of my work current begins somewhere between 10.0 and 11.0. It also survived some hardware changes and also migration from 32->64bit.

If you did that on Windows, the first thing you'd see when you start it up is "Windows has failed Activation". ;)

If it starts up at all...

(or has this improved on newer versions?)

You can increase the size of most file systems without reinstalling! Even using gparted its pretty easy...

I considered doing that, but, as I think I also mentioned, I'm not using that machine in quite the same way any more. It had a lot of programs on it that had become redundant.

I figured a thorough spring cleaning was in order.

I've been running current (32-bit) on my main desktop for the better part of a year with no need to reinstall anything.

In fact, I had more trouble trying to run a 64-bit 14.1 install on the same box. Current is extremely solid, and I wouldn't hesitate to put it on any of my personal systems.

Happened to see this thread and wanted to take a look for myself.
I'm using mostly CentOS nowadays, but I have a trusty old router/firewall/network monitor box running 14.1 current:
