Hi there, i know this can be looks weird, but i have some very older software (closed sources/privative) .
and i want to load their appareance correctly. for example "ePSXe 1.6.0" for GNU/Linux.
Before you say "use pcsxr, retroarch", let me explain i have some games like : Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy 8, Star Ocean, etc for some reason, can't boot with : pcsx, pcsx-df, pcsxr (PCSXR ReARMed stable / git) , retroarch (mednafen-psx , mednafen-hw-psx, pcsxr-rearmed, mess) .
Just works with ePSXe, the newer version for GNU/Linux is extremely slowly on my pc. i need this older version and the native for Microsoft Windows, reacts exactly equal under Wine. well i prefer native software for GNU/Linux.
and this became a challange, because i has installed : gtk1-theme-switch. some gtk1.2 engines with themes. but i can't load correctly under Slackware64 14.2
Every theme for GTK1.2 just change the colors but dont change the "Appareance" (Like buttons)
The first one installs the Industrial engine and theme for GTK1, the second is a simple theme chooser for GTK1 (that you installed). As it says in the README at SBo: "Please note, that this will list all GTK themes, as well as any XFCE window manager themes. So don't get confused by the long list and make sure the theme you select _is_ for GTK1." In this case it is Industrial. How it looks? Here's a screenshot:

Those games work fine with the libretro cores for me... I could help diagnose the issue, but I guess you aren't interested...

For me not, because RetroArch ("mednafen cores") ever "Segmentation Fault" and with the pcsxr rearmed core dont work with the version of the game i want to play :
Final Fantasy VIII (S) (Disc 1) [SLES-02084] -> Official Spanish Version
(PSX) Vagrant Story [PAL-E] (S) [SLES-02754] -> Romhacked patched Version.
None works with RetroArch, pcsxr, pcsx-df. with ePSXe 1.6.0 are Playable.
and well i dont found a method to load GTK1.2 appareance on 32 Bits application.
-> This files is because, i try to test with the Debian Etch versions.
Or better the "gtk1" engines from native installation of 32 Bits or 64 Bits of Older Version of Slackware but i don't know which is the lastest version of slackware with gtk1.
To lets try on my Slackware, please
I am thinking to Download older version of Slackware to extract the files i need it for Load GTK1.2 properly in 32 Bits Apps, but i dont know if download
convertpkg-compat32 -i gtk1-industrial-engine-0.2.36-i486-1_slonly.txz, the ready package will be in /tmp

You need to have gdk-pixbuf_0.22.0 installed. That's the image loaders for gtk-1.2 -that package was removed from slackware when nothing more was included which used it. But it's necessary for full gtk1 funtionality.
You'll also find a lot of gtk1 applications, as well as patched gkt itself on my site -probably the largest collection of gtk1 stuff ever gathered on one site.
I still use a gtk-1.2 desktop every day here -the only gtk2 stuff I use is seamonkey and occasionally other stuff. But email, ftp and other stuff is all gtk1. I use a nicely-patched version of windowmaker, with 'taskbar' as a panel and desktop with rox-filer(gtk1 of course), also nicely patched with extra features.
You might wanna clone as much as you can there, as the site could be removed later.

So I tested Final Fantasy VIII (S) and it seems you are right, with beetle-psx-libretro, pscx-rearmed and mednafen upstream it gets stuck on a black screen right after the PS1 logos. I'll investigate more, but I would suspect that there is a problem with the .bin and a better dump is needed.

Actually its missing the .sbi file. This file and the cue sheet for the first disc can be found here.
And if you look at the top of this page to find those links which can be repeated for the other discs. http://redump.org/disc/1109/
If you are still having problems you should make sure the md5sum matches the redump shown in the above link and that the .bin, .cue and .sbi match file names, they are case sensitive. The contents of the .cue file will also have to have the correct file name.
Edit: Additionally, if you are loading pcsx-rearmed from the command line you may run into this crash if you do not specify the path (i.e. path/to/game.cue). However you should probably just use beetle-psx instead unless you are using arm hardware.
