How do you auto-hide the KDE 4.1.1 Toolbar plasmoid?

I'm testing KDE 4.4.1 on -current in a VM and it is driving me insane! I have many questions (ie WHY!!!) but the most pressing at the moment is how do you auto-hide the KDE 4.1.1 Toolbar plasmoid?

I have discovered how to add plasmoids to it, I have discovered how to resize it. I have even discovered how to change its color (change the desktop theme) and how to move it. The one thing I have not discovered, is how to auto-hide it. I have googled, but my searches turn up nothing concrete about auto-hiding the KDE 4.1.1 Toolbar plasmoid, just a tantalizing link to the KDE Commit Digest mentioning that auto-hiding for plasmoids is being implemented, that I have been unable to track down when actually visiting the commit digest.

So again, my question is how do you auto-hide the KDE 4.1.1 Toolbar plasmoid and is it even possible? And if it is not why not?

Hi,

I'm 90% sure that this feature will only be available in KDE 4.2, maybe it might be backported to a 4.1.x release...

I don't think it's possible yet. I've been using KDE 4.1.1 through openSUSE's KDE-Factory branch and auto-hiding is not present here either. They've come a long way since KDE 4.0, but there are going to be little things once in a while that will take a bit longer simply because there are other more critical issues that need to be handled. I miss a lot of stuff that was in KDE 3.5, but I cannot expect KDE4 to have near the 'customization options' as KDE3.5 since KDE4 is a complete overhaul and much of the code for those 'customization options' must be adjusted to work in KDE4. They simply can't do it all at once. I think we'll find that every new release of KDE4 will add a bunch new 'creature comforts'. I'm excited as I like the look and feel of KDE4 very much and can't wait for more stuff to be added!

Thanks, serafean, for the info. I'll wait until 4.2.x

CRC123, I have to say I disagree with you about this being a "creature comfort". It is a basic feature of any modern full-featured Desktop Environment. But thanks otherwise.

Found this:http://news.softpedia.com/news/First...re-93935.shtml

It says that openSUSE 11.1 will have autohiding panels.
