Also have a look at CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT. Read it carefully and remove the packages that are no longer in 11.0.

With a printout of those 2 files, it worked for me without any problems.

upgrade

Get slackpkg from extras in slack 11. Also read the upgrrade.text, it will work fine. I have done it on 4 computers now.

I also used slackpkg to upgrade this laptop -- follow the directions and check the .new config files against your old ones.

slack 11 mute the soundcard by default, you can try run alsamixer, its on the welcome message on your tty, well I got it in fresh install, I dont know in upgrade install.

alsa

Try reinstalling your alsa package, or first run alsaconf or alsa mixer and set yr sound. Remember to alsactl store when done.

Thanks.

alsaconf is not detecting the card. Which module to load?

I would just recompile the kernel. This way you will be sure to have the needed support for your hardware.

What is your soundcard ? /sbin/lspci | grep audio
If it is not a rare model, chances are that the module
is already compiled and installed

Also be a little more precise with drivers problem...
which kernel do you use 2.6 or 2.4 ? uname -a
(maybe post a new thread for your sound problem)
