How do I prepare files for faxing?

I have installed a program to send faxes: FAxmail.2.3 from:
http://www.tpc.int/tpc_home.html
I need to know what I need to do to convert files to prepare them for
faxing. Is there programs on Slackware I can use for this?
If not I can try to install something.

The above site says to use ImageMagick. I found it at:
http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php
I tried to compile it, but got this error:
Quote:

bash-3.1# make DESTDIR=/tmp/imagemagick/ install
make install-am
make[1]: Entering directory `/tmp/ImageMagick-6.5.3-4'
make[2]: Entering directory `/tmp/ImageMagick-6.5.3-4'
test -z "/usr/lib" || /bin/mkdir -p "/tmp/imagemagick//usr/lib"
/bin/sh ./libtool --silent --mode=install /bin/ginstall -c magick/libMagickCore.la wand/libMagickWand.la Magick++/lib/libMagick++.la '/tmp/imagemagick//usr/lib'
libtool: install: warning: relinking `wand/libMagickWand.la'
/bin/ginstall: cannot stat `wand/.libs/libMagickWand.so.2.0.0T': No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [install-libLTLIBRARIES] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/ImageMagick-6.5.3-4'
make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/ImageMagick-6.5.3-4'
make: *** [install] Error 2
Appreciate help

Thanks.

Slackware already comes with ImageMagick, if you do a full install. Are you trying to upgrade ImageMagick?

I didn't know ImageMagick was installed.
How do I start this program and use it to prepare files to send as
a fax. The program I installed: FaxMail-2.3 allows me to send postscript, text or images. I will send mostly text or documents I
make with OpenOffice.

Thanks

Is your fax part of an All-In-One Printer?
I have an HP Officejet 5610v that is fax capable through Open Office using the HPLIP driver. That may be a solution.

I don't have a fax machine. I'm using FaxMail which is a program from
The Phone Company at
http://www.tpc.int/
The program I downloaded sends the fax to one of their servers
through the internet, which redirects it to a fax machine located at
the fax number.

I'm not familiar with fax machines. I thought I would look into that
later.

Thanks
