How do I make bittorrent work on linux?!@?!?!?

Well at first I just downloaded and untarred the source thinking it would be a simple ./configure,make,make install setup. Turns out the answer is no so I simply downloaded an rpm instead and rpm2tgzed it.. Then I ran installpkg on it. Now I have no idea how to make it run. I understand it came with a gui as well but I can't find anything on how to make it run. Also the website is udderly helpless.

As always all help is greatly appreciated. Btw I'm on slack10.0 just in case you need that info.

I use Bittornado which gives more control i guess. You can get it at :

You will have to install both wxPython and Bittornado. You can run it by giving the command 'btdownloadgui.py torrent_name'

As another option, you can use Azureus which is pretty simple to use

if you've installed the standard app, take a look in /usr/bin for executables beginning with "bt" - then just run in a terminal.

Azureus is my favorite BT client, its java and has never failed me yet, simple to install and to get working (believe it was just untar and run azureus from the dir).

And don't forget to poke the bittorrent ports range in your firewall...

After difficulty trying to set up BT, I opted for Azureus. simple to install, & I have never had a problem with it.
