How do I install a secondary HDD?
Hi,
I'm relatively new to the Slackware distribution of linux, and linux altogether. After installing Slackware, I noticed that only one of my HDDs was in my storage directory. This drive was the one I used to install Slackware onto. I wish this entire HDD to be devoted to Slackware, since it is relatively small. I would like to use my other secondary hard drive to store files and programs. It is a western digital, I believe, and approx. 80 GB. How do I get my other HDD to be recognized and put in the storage directory? Thanks for any help you can provide, Dustin Nieffenegger |
Assuming it's blank, you first want to format it using fdisk. Then you want to install a file system using mkfs. Then you want to mount it using mount. Then you want to add a section to your fstab file so it will automatically mount when you boot your computer.
Here's a guide that goes a little more into detail: http://www.linuxworld.com.au/index.p...pid;1048103267 |
Ok, I'll print off the directions on the page you linked.
I hope it works. Thanks. |
