How do I change my windows partition permissions. chmod won't work.

I have a lot of stuff I want to be able to bring to my linux partition. I also have a lot of stuff like music that I just want to be able to play in xmms.

I've tried using chmod as root. As soon as I mount the drive, root becomes the owner. I do not want to run root all the time for security issues. Is there anyway that my user account can access my windows partition?

I'm not in slack right now, but you need to edit /etc/fstab and add "users" in that partition's options (see man for details)
then you can mount it as a normal user
