Why don't you try slax (slax.org) ?
Its just slackware , but live!

a 128MB version of Slax fits my bill perfectly.

Although, if you just want a boot stick then what comes in slack12 DVD is the best.

I was just trying to find another way to boot Slack. I use two other distros that use grub and have so far been unable to install grub on Slack.
So... I have Slack on a drive booted from Lilo, and the other two on another drive booted with grub. The real solution is for me to get back in the book and learn to install grub on Slack so I can get everything back on one drive. I just started using Slack a few weeks ago and I'm still going through the learning curve.

What do you have on the first partition of hda? If possible hda1 should be a (small) boot partition where you can keep your grub files for use with any distro.

Install grub to the root partition (not MBR) of the other distros. And in lilo of Slack which is on MBR of the HardDisk put "other=/dev/hda7" etc. where hda7 is the root partition of the other distro. This should be fairly simple. Main point to note is that you do NOT install grub to MBR of hard disk.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I have a new hard drive coming in from Newegg today to play with. (if UPS don't get lost)
