How big is Slackware?

How much space does the Slackware distribution take up--in particular, how many installation disks does its ISO require? A small installation (such as Xandros, which needed only one CD) would be a "selling point" (figuratively, of course) to me.

Slackware uses 2 CDs if you want KDE or GNOME, only one if you don't.

From the Slackware website...

100-500 megabytes of hard disk space for a minimal and around 3.5GB for full install

I've just done a full install of 10.1 and it uses less than 3 GB of HD space. Slack 10.1 is living happily on my Pll 266.

Wink

My smallest install was 140Mb with Fluxbox.
Right now it's 7GB
Slackware install may vary considerably

Right I guess even with a full install it depends on what programs you want to have running on start-up, etc.

I usually start out under a gig but after a while I usually end up at about 2 gigs. KDE and Gnome can really make quite a difference. I program stuff so I have some heavyweights like j2sdk and ..., well there are more. Slackpacks tend to contain more then just binaries (I'm pretending I know anything about this) for a single app, but it's just so much simpler that way.
