hotplug kills sound

I have this problem with slack 10 installed on a laptop (hp nx 9020): if I put "nohotplub nousb" boot option, I have sound (sound card is AC Link); if I don't, I don't have (so I need 2 lilo entries - one for sound and one for usb). Does anybody know what might be the problem?

It sounds like hotplug is loading the wrong module. You should check and see what module it loads for sound and put it in /etc/hotplug/blacklist
