Hotplug is taking so long


hi there,

Can someone show me how to speed up the hotplug process ?? its taking so long on my box. where can i modify so that i can uncheck unnecessary modules.

/etc/hotplug/blacklist
but only disable things you know that don;t work, or are reporting errors coz they don't work

If you really want to speed it up, upgrade to the 2.6 kernel.

You can file out the modules that hotplug loads, and
add them to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules. That way the module
is alread loaded by the time hotplug gets called.

Or recompile your kernel with most or all modules built in.
