Hotplug

Not sure who else has tested any of the new Hot-plug stuff in the rc 1-3 series of slack 9 but I seem to be having problems with it. I have two sound cards, one integrated on the board that uses the ac97 chip, and a Sound Blaster Live. The problem seems to be when Hot-plug loads both modules for both cards.

I could disable the ac97 in the bios but I use it for the monitor output when I use my PC to DJ at party's, so I can't do that. And I'm not sure where to stop it from loading a module for it on boot.

Another issue is when I try to start esd, and it doesn't seem to want to work at all, saying it can't set something or other with the sound card, I will post a follow up with more info on that.

Any help on a workaround on this issue would be greatly appreciated, or if there is an easy fix let me know...I rather not disable hot-plug, i've tried that already, it loads all my usb mouse/keyboard, TV tuner, Ethernet, and other misc modules so thats definitely not an option.

Thanks,

Ok the error I got from esd not picking up a usable bit rate for the card was coming from the ac97 card for some reason... I rebooted and hotplug now loads the SB card first for some reason and esd starts now using that card.

Would it be possible to implement a hotplug in the future thats interactive? As in not to load a module for something? I think that might be quite benificial to some people. I think they went the right direction with the hotplug, and I understand it is rather new, but an interactive version might be even better. Any comments on this? Post them here!!
