home-directory taken over by root after halt

Hi,

Occasionally, I get problems starting up my Slackware 10.0 (2.4.X as well as 2.6.8.1, resp. with gnome 2.6 and 2.8). It always comes down to the fact that my home-directory suddenly seems to be owned by the root user. It has been some time, but today I got it again.

What did I use yesterday? Firefox, Thunderbird, nautilus, cvs, zip, tar, emacs, vi, gimp, vmware and lyx. The strange thing is that I haven't had any problems then writing stuff to my home-directory. I've halted yesterday by su-ing in a console and typing halt, without logging out of my X-session.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Which application has caused this?

Hi,

That's right, but that was not the real problem. I was just wondering which application (halt, rsync, ... ) causes this behavior and how to stop him from doing this.
