Hmm. I don't think my Slack has the kernel source code
 

I installed all packages, but there is no /etc/src/linux directory.

Can I download the source somewhere? Or is it somewhere else on my machine do you think?

You can get it off your slack cd you installed with:

installpkg <package-name.tgz>

It doesnt come on the CD, and PLEASE search the forum, this is asked once a week.

And the question will keep coming up since it was standard for the source to come on the CD. What's up with the sudden change?

On the full 4CD distribution of Slackware, the kernel source is on CD3 and is called "linux-2.4.20.tar.bz2". Now to my question, what is the difference between this and the "kernel-source-2.4.20-noarch-5.tgz" other then the name how it is packed ?

I think those are the only differences. You can install the .tgz by doing "installpkg" whereas the tar.bz2 would have to be manually unpacked and all that jazz.

It shouldn't keep coming up, because people should have the brains to *gasp* scroll down the page and see that its asked all the time.

Well, you can get your answer in 30 seconds if you search "slackware kernel source" or you can get it in an hour when someone gets around to telling you to search.

Your choice I guess.
