High CPU usage from udev

Running Slackware 11, and my system is pretty much idle, but I'm getting around 20% CPU usage from udev. Can I just remove the udev package? Is it something I need?

Hmmm, I guess I solved it by fixing another issue I was having. I did "chmod a-x rc.pcmcia" to stop PCMCIA services from starting upon boot up, and that seems to have fixed it.
