I can't help thinking that Slackware 14.1 is going to be an especially awesome release, more so than the .0, which, in my experience, was less than stellar.

Go Slackware!

In fact, I put my money where my mouth is, and pre-ordered 14.1. Since I have not had a subscription since 11.0, I think it fitting to support Pat now, seeing as how impressive this release of Slackware is shaping up to be.

Thank you.

I'm not sure whether I'm more excited about the upcoming release of my favourite band's album (Dream Theater) or my favourite OS. Both are going to be special!

'Tis true. But 14.0 didn't agree with my machine, mostly because the 3.2.29 kernel caused it to panic, but everything else was good, once I got the 3.4.10 kernel running on the machine, hence the 'especially' modifier. They are all awesome, but it is always better for the installation and first-time boot to go smoothly, which they had until 14.0.

I have uploaded new glibc multilib packages for Slackware 13.37 and 14.0 and also refreshed the packages in the "slackware64-compat32" directories there. See the RSS feed.

Nice! GNU chess is updated too.

Is there any chance of Linux kernel 3.11 making it into this release -- perhaps in testing?

Thanks Pat and team!

Another step towards total world domination...hehe.
Grub is a welcome addition and will be used by many recent Slack converts. Must admit, grub was all I knew
till I started with Slackware (12.1) but lilo suits me just fine at present.

I use Grub2 on Slackware 13.37 and now to 14.0.
I am happy Grub2 is now officially supported.

Blair the album while upgrading your Slackware, that'll be one awesome day.

Kind of unhappy with grub2.
Tried an install with it a day or two ago
grub-install blah blah blah [ENTER]
and fifty screens of stuff flew by on the monitor. That bothers me. Remember the KISS principle
Even though it worked, when I rebooted and the grub boot selections came up. They were all called
"Slackware 14.0"
I had six of them. There is probably a way to change that, which I will learn sooner or later.
It just seems that lilo.conf or elilo.conf are so much easier to understand.
Just my $2 (inflation Huh?)

Yeah, I am also more comfortable with lilo and like how it works. When 14.1 comes out I may try GRUB on one of my boxes just for the novelty.

When Slackware shipped only LILO, every now and then someone would complain that it didn't offer grub. Now Grub2 is offered for those who want it and people complain that it is there. I don't get it. Same thing with when NetworkManager was added...
