Hey folks, I'm calling this a beta!

The ChangeLog.txt tells all:
Code:

Wed Sep 18 02:56:19 UTC 2013
Hey folks, I'm calling this a beta!

Also noteworthy: the addition of grub 2.0 to the A/ series, and the move to Firefox 24 ESR.

I'll upload my rebuilt glibc multilib packages as soon as possible.

Eric

(note: the "I" of the subject line is Pat, not me...!)

Thanks to Pat and all! Updating as I type!

An auspicious event for my own thousandth post!

Will we be able to choose at install time whether to use LILO or Grub?

bartgymnast 09-18-2013 02:57 AM

I was just wondering the same question.

But great to see the addition of Grub.
now bash-completion from extra to standard and it would even be better

Sure! But GRUB will require some command line work. :)

kooru 09-18-2013 03:02 AM

Great new about grub. Even if I prefer lilo.
Thanks Pat!

astrogeek 09-18-2013 03:07 AM

I am ambivalent about Grub. My only attempt to use it was not successful (ca. 2003-4 I think).

To this point I am totally happy with Lilo and will not change until I have a reason.

But curious - was UEFI the driver behind the inclusion of Grub? Or something else like, "by popular demand"?

TobiSGD 09-18-2013 03:12 AM

Will there be an option to not use the ESR of Firefox, like an updated Slackbuild in /extra?

solarfields 09-18-2013 03:43 AM

Thank you Pat and the rest for your great work!

gmgf 09-18-2013 04:19 AM

Good, thanks, Pat and all other contrib.

Is there a chance that the new version (0.95.5) of WindowMaker will be included in Slackware 14.1?

Please upgrade MESA to 9.2 (many bug fixes).

Yes. I think UEFI was the only reason for having GRUB2 added and in the A/ series even.

Mesa 9.2 is a new development release. People who are concerned with stability and reliability should stick with a previous release or wait for Mesa 9.2.1.
