help installing divx 5.05

I'm trying to install divx 5.0.5 codec. I downloaded the .tgz file, extracted into a folder in my /home/ directory, I ran "make install.sh", followed by "./install" and now I trying to figure out where it put those files and how to tell totem how to integrate the codec.

If someone could shed some light on this issue or give me a link on how to install software correctly that would be greatly appreciated.

as far as i know all you need is this

It also plays divx, works with all formats on my machine.

I think it's a Slackware package. To install become root and issue the command

I tried that but it didn't reckognize the file, anyway I managed to extract it, but after all that "make" stuff, nothing happens

sorry it was a "tar.gz" file straight off the divx site, they didn't give any instructions.
