Question Help , Does Slackware64 14.1 support all drivers for HP 15-af008AX Notebook

Hi All,

I am about to buy this laptop/Notebook Called HP 15-af008AX Notebook.

I just want to know whether the Slackware64 14.1 support all the Display, sound, network , wifi , bluetooth , mouse etc .

This is the HP site for specifications http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04726782

But in this site they have only specified generic hardware details.

The reason why i asked is i own an acer old laptop which still i have to manually press on the FN+ L ARROW while at boot or else it will go to a blank screen , and i have tried different solutions for it which is written in lq and other google results such as adding boot parameters and other tweaks etc , but none other works except this key combination , i just dont want it to happen in my new laptop. Hope you all will help me in this

Request someone to help me ASAP... Thanks

Well thats a cool question. But since slackware uses the linux kernel the question should be does the linux kernel support HP 15-af008AX Notebook.
the vmliuz huge pretty much run everything. But the there are many modules "drivers" also built to load.
I see this question all the time. Slackware linux uses a vanilla kernel. and rarely patches it unless advised from upstream security Linus team.
what you need to do is your home work on what drivers you need this is not a distro question this is a linux question. at any time slackware you may recompile pile the kernel in case you have some exotic driver you need. if your hp is an optimus chipp you will need to look at bumble bee slack instructions.
from those specs yes.
if you get a black screen press alt f2 because tty your tty1 may have froze or crashed. that sounds like an acapi problem.
or a boot configuration.
as for holding those buttons that is a bios thing it looks like.
please make sure your slackware is uptodate. the xorg for your intel graphics was rebuilt to handle some issues.

Those specs don't seem accurate, since it says it comes with an AMD APU (CPU and GPU combined on the same chip) and Intel graphics. If it's a dual videocard setup, usually it'd be integrated Intel graphics with a discrete AMD or Nvidia GPU.

Without having more detailed specs, it's impossible to know how well-supported your device would be. But APUs seem to be hit or miss with 14.1 due to its age. With my AMD 5350 APU, I needed to run Slackware-current to be able to properly use my system.
