Help! Can't boot into Linux

I have a dual boot machine running slackware 8.1. I was installing a whole load of new packages downloaded from the slackware ftp site (including base (a) , kernel, ap, d, e, etc) and when I tried to reboot linux after install it just hung after about 10 dots. (Linux.........)

Is there some problem looking for the kernel? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

-Peter Clarke
