This used to happen to me in 13.1. My EEEPC would do the same thing. Upgrading the Kernel to a newer version fixed the problem..

Do you have a file with a name starting with "codec" in /proc/asound/card0/? If so, please post the contents.
My thought is that your headphones are switched on and off using a different pin to that in the models. Perhaps this output will help.
Yes, called "codec#0". It says:

Node 0x1b shows the presence of the "Headphone Playback Switch". Can you mute your headphones using the mixer?

Yes, they mute, but the volume is still controlled by the master, PCM, and front. The headphone indicator strip in alsamixer itself has no ability to change volume, only to mute and to unmute. Muting the external speakers also mutes the headphones.

Have you tried the "model=haier-w66" option?

According to the contents of your codec#0 file you have:
Headphone Playback Switch control on Node 0x1b
Front Playback Colume control on Node 0x0c
Stereo Amp-In Amp-Out on Node 0x14 with a default connection to 0x0c

This seems to fit this portion of code from patch_realtek.c
Code:
static struct hda_verb alc883_haier_w66_verbs[] = {
	{0x0c, AC_VERB_SET_AMP_GAIN_MUTE, AMP_IN_UNMUTE(0)},
	{0x0c, AC_VERB_SET_AMP_GAIN_MUTE, AMP_IN_UNMUTE(1)},

	{0x14, AC_VERB_SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL, PIN_OUT},

	{0x1b, AC_VERB_SET_CONNECT_SEL, 0x00},
	{0x1b, AC_VERB_SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL, PIN_HP},
	{0x1b, AC_VERB_SET_UNSOLICITED_ENABLE, ALC880_HP_EVENT | AC_USRSP_EN},
	{0x1b, AC_VERB_SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL, PIN_HP},
	{ } /* end */

This seems to fit this portion of code from patch_realtek.c
Code:
static struct hda_verb alc883_haier_w66_verbs[] = {
	{0x0c, AC_VERB_SET_AMP_GAIN_MUTE, AMP_IN_UNMUTE(0)},
	{0x0c, AC_VERB_SET_AMP_GAIN_MUTE, AMP_IN_UNMUTE(1)},

	{0x14, AC_VERB_SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL, PIN_OUT},

	{0x1b, AC_VERB_SET_CONNECT_SEL, 0x00},
	{0x1b, AC_VERB_SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL, PIN_HP},
	{0x1b, AC_VERB_SET_UNSOLICITED_ENABLE, ALC880_HP_EVENT | AC_USRSP_EN},
	{0x1b, AC_VERB_SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL, PIN_HP},
	{ } /* end */
You are real good, because that fixed the issue! I am impressed. I need to study more about this issue for future models. Thanks a lot for your assistance. It was in fact "haier-w66".

Thanks again. I marked this as solved just now. By the way, can you clarify exactly the meanings of this line:
Code:
0x14, AC_VERB_SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL, PIN_OUT
The numbers "0x14" for instance. Does PIN just signify the jack itself?

From /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio.txt
Quote:
The HD-audio codec has usually "pin" widgets, and BIOS sets the default
configuration of each pin, which indicates the location, the
connection type, the jack color, etc.
If you have the inclination, wade through the entire document!
