Hav ing problems with slackware 9.1 sound configuration for IBM Thinkpad 600E
i just installed slackware 9.1 on this laptop, and when i use alsaconf, it says that the search notices im using a 600e thinkpad, but it tells me this:
Looks like you having a Thinkpad 600E notebook. On this notebook, CS4236 driver should be used although CS46xx is detected. Shall i try to snd-cs4236 driver and probe the Legacy ISA configuration? When i say yes to this, my computer freezes, when i try to just install the CS46xx driver, it doesn't work... any1 had this problem can help me figure this out? greatly appreciated, ic3 |
I had a Think Pad 600E with Slackware 8.1, and as far as I remember, I had problems with both the cs46xx and cs4236 sound modules. The only module which worked for the laptop was the cs4232 module.
Unfortunately I did not use the ALSA modules, but the OSS modules which came with the kernel. My OSS configuration for the modules.conf file under /etc was ---------->8---------- alias sound cs4232 alias synth0 opl3 options cs4232 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 synthio=0x220 mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=9 options opl3 io=0x388 post-install cs4232 modprobe "-k" opl3 ----------->8---------- Hope this information can at least give you an idea of how to configure your sound with the ALSA.
