Has Pat ever gone "on the record" about x86 64-bit support?

Has Patrick ever explicitly expressed his opinion about an "official" version of 64-bit Slackware?

Not sure if he has but there is a x86_64 slackware version. http://www.slamd64.com/ is the only one I know of that is close.

I was more curious if he had said he wasn't going to do one flat-out, or whether it was an issue of time, not having the machine, not having the need, etc.

It is almost certainly a combination of all of those.

Even if somebody donated the 64 bit machine to him, he doesn't have the time to maintain x86 and x86_64 versions.

If anything, he would likely name Slamd64 as an official port, and work with them to maintain the quality he strives for in the mainline distribution.
