Hardware router/firewall?
Which hardware router/firewall would you suggest? I've been looking at them, but not many of them claim support for linux, so I was wondering which one seems to work best with slackware.

Just use your Slackware machine!
That is the best! Get 2 GOOD NICs to work. |
I have a D-Link DI 604. It work's fine with my Linux box. You access the router through the web. No issues. Mine was $31 recertified, delivered to my house from tigerdirect. Good documentation. It was well worth it.
Also, as you'll find, almost nothing out there just comes out and says it's ready or supports linux. |
hmmm, how would you go about setting up a linux comp as a router, exactly?
BTW, I currently use a Belkin DSL/cable gateway router, I have a linux and a windows machine hooked up to it, and I have had no problems. |
Some of the Linux router websites:
http://www.linuxrouter.org/ http://doggerdog.bravepages.com/freesco/ http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=5826 But I think nowadays those small little boxes which comes with ADSL modem are not pure routers. They are just NAT. |
My slackware box runs fine with my minimal Freesco router (486-66 16MB)
