I am thinking that something I entered during my Slack install has created this issue, though I use the same entries I have always used. Perhaps someone will post a sample file for both of these to get me started.

One little thing, to get an IP address you use dhcpcd (which is a dhcp client) not dhcpd (which is a dhcp server). That extra c means a lot!

Thanks for that. Yes, that was a typo. I actually had typed it correctly. I configured it in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 for wlan0 to use dhcp, but I still have to enter in manually at each reboot. What should I do to get it to automatically get an IP address at boot? Thanks for any replies.
