Hard Drive


Can someone eplain to me, or point me in the right direction on how to add a hdd to slackware and how to format it in reiserfs (all in commandline)

You need to physically install it then figure out what its labeled, as a general guide your first hdd will be /dev/hda and your second /dev/hdb etc (Assuming they are ide drives)

This command should give you some idea:
dmesg |grep hd


Then you need to install a package reiserfsprogs this includes programs for dealing with and creating reiser file systems.

Then you need to do somthing like mkfs.reiserfs /dev/hdb (Assuming your second hdd is hdb)

Better, use /usr/sbin/cfdisk /dev/hdb, create some linux partitions,
then format any partition you want with mkfs.reiserfs or mkreiserfs
(it is the same thing, mkfs.reiserfs is a symlink)

And don't forget to make a mount point for it and add it to /etc/fstab so you can access it.
