Hal daemon loading twice, system freezes at boot

Hello my friends!

I've got a little problem here... hal daemon is loading twice, at least this is what I see in text lines at the startup, and the system freezes. Absolutely nothing happens and I end up having to restart by pressing Ctrl Alt Del.

I'm running Slackware 12. What can I do?

You could try booting up a livedistro of some kind (Or probably singleusermode) and
chmod a-x /etc/rc.d/rc.hald
Now hal should be disabled. Try reboot and see if it still locks up. And try to figure out why it starts two times.

I think even in in single user mode hald won't load ...
try booting with parameter single appended in lilo.
