I'm trying to use gxine here in Slackware with dropline-gnome and I keep getting this crash when I change to full screen mode.
Here's what happens:
Normally I launch it from the menu (no error output) and it'll startup a DVD. Shortly after it gets going I'll normally switch over to full screen mode. The little FBI warning or a rating screen will come up, and when it goes to switch to the next scene it'll just crap out. Launching gxine from a terminal I've gotten two things. The first time or two I got a "Segmentation Fault" and that's it and now I just get "Killed" in the terminal.
Any ideas on this one?
Also, Totem is also installed on here but doesn't work at all. It'll launch up (either as my user or as root) and I'll be able to open up a drop down menu after a couple seconds and then it just locks up. Sometimes I can kill it in the GUI and sometimes I have to kill it in the terminal. What gives here?
Well gxine didn't work at fullscreen at all for me (i was trying to listen music seeing cool graphics, not a dvd), so i never used it. If you're trying to watch a movie, try Xine or Mplayer, they should work ok (i've seen many divxs with both and none crashed).
Yeah, I used Xine with Fedora without a problem, and have considered installing that, but dropline installs gxine and since it's already there I figured I might as well use that. But, being that it's not cooperating I might just have to go with Xine after all...
I would really like to fix it though. I really can't stand when something doesn't work right... it becomes a personal mission to solve the problem with me.
By the way... which do you prefer? Xine or Mplayer?
Well i prefer Xine because it comes with Slackware (just type xine in a terminal), but Mplayer is also good and i downloaded it and have it just in case... (got the packages from linuxpackages.net) I don't want to compile if i don't have to do
