GVIM with colored syntax -} How?

Hello,

Before, I was on Fedora Core 4, and i was loving VIM.
The letters in a source where in color...

Now, on Slackware 11.0... No COLORS!!!
I like GVIM, but what I like in it is colors...

I tried :syntax enable, but its not the good syntax highlighting.

Heres a picture of what I want :
http://www.opensky.ca/~jdhildeb/soft...vim-gtk2.0.png

The good syntax highlighting is like that... I would rly like to have exactly like it...

Im learning C, and to program, I would like a good editor...

Thanx alot, very appreciated...

My gvim in Slackware 11.0 has syntax colour enabled.
Do you have a ~/.vimrc which overrides the coloured syntax in /usr/share/vim/vimrc ?

If your /usr/share/vim/vimrc has
Code:
" Switch syntax highlighting on, when the terminal has colors
" Also switch on highlighting the last used search pattern.
if &t_Co > 2 || has("gui_running")
  syntax on
  set hlsearch
endif
and still the app shows no colors, there could be something else disabling colors, but I don't have a clue what that would be. Here for me, it "just" works.

I don't rly know whats going on...
My Slackware 11.0 is new... So I don't think something can interfer.

4 example, when I do :

{}

the {} is highlighted in blue, but its like on the letters, not the letters that have the color.

***** ITS RLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU CHECK THE PICTURE! *****

Thanx.

I checked the picture, thank you. This is how it looks on my computer: http://alienbase.nl/gvim_colorhighlight.png - the usual, normal, syntax colouring just like yours.

And please write "really" as "really" and not "rly", and "for" as "for" and not as "4" if I am to take you seriously.

OK OK OK...

I have color highlighting... But I still have a problem :

I ONLY have color highlighting when I open a file, for example, a C file: .c

The color works only with the extensions...
But not like NORMALLY... How to solve the problem?

Thanx

Ah, that is what you meant! Gvim does not know what kind of syntax you're writing util you save the file once, and then it will use the filename extension (.c , .html etc...) to determine the default syntax.
You can also choose the desired syntax from the "syntax" menu.
