gstreamer support with wine

I am trying to compile wine with gstreamer support. No matter what I do, it tells me:

configure: gstreamer-0.10 base plugins 32-bit development files not found, gstreamer support disabled

I have gstreamer installed, I have the base plugins installed, I have the dev files installed. What can I do to get ./configure to recognize them, or how can I tell what configure is or is not seeing that generates this message?

It could be specific headers weren't included with your package or a few libraries. I've never heard of WINE specifically requiring gstreamer itself. Are you trying to compile it from sources or are you using a SlackBuild script?

I'm building wine from source. It isn't required, it just gives a warning that gstreamer support will be disabled.

I'm trying to run a game that crashes with errors related to gstreamer not being there, so I'm trying to compile wine with gstreamer support.

I have the same problem under debian squeeze 64bit trying to compile 32bit wine 1.3.36.
Installing libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev doesn't help.....
Did somebody already found a solution?

Old thread, but until now an unsolved one. I managed to get this to work (32-bit Wine to detect GStreamer when built on a 64-bit multilib system) by setting PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig in the Wine SlackBuild.
