gs not starting "CRIT: rangecheck in get" some TTF file

Hey,
I googled but couldn't find an answer to this. There is a lq thread , but in that the poster's solution was to delete the fonts, which I don't want to do. Is there a better solution ?

The problem:

bash-3.1$ gs
ESP Ghostscript 815.04 (2007-03-14)
Copyright (C) 2004 artofcode LLC, Benicia, CA. All rights reserved.
This software comes with NO WARRANTY: see the file PUBLIC for details.
CRIT: rangecheck in get
Operand stack:
/usr/share/fonts/TTF/marlett.ttf 0

I had copied a lot of ttf files to my /usr/share/fonts/TTF/ directory. Thats when gs stopped working. I thought maybe moving the new fonts from /usr/share/fonts/TTF to ~/.fonts/ might help. But it didn't work either. gs still hangs even though there is marlett.ttf in the path mentioned.

I have run fc-cache twice or thrice as root as well as normal user. gs doesn't work (as root or as normal user).

gs -? gives ..

i had exactly the same with that marlett font.

i have deleted it. So yeah, basicly that was my solution which you didn't wanna hear

But well, it's just one font. if your life depends on it, you might wanna investigate more. But i think it's not worth the effort. Just my opinion though.

Though, if you find the solution yourself, or someone else it would be nice to share.

I tried that ... It still hangs ... I don't have a problem with the marlett font ... the other post says to delete *.ttf from the directory , thats what I don't want to do ..
I mean :
Quote:
CRIT: rangecheck in get
Operand stack:
/usr/share/fonts/TTF/marlett.ttf 0
bash-3.1# ls /usr/share/fonts/TTF/ | grep marlett
bash-3.1#
This is waht I don't understand .. it is still hangin on the same damn font ... I ran fc-cache many times ...
