Hello!
I've recently been playing around with grub2, and have it working pretty well on a few installations here. Grub2 improves on many of the shortcomings from legacy-grub, such as non-x86 (including native 64-bit) support, ext4 support, direct ISO booting, themes, scripting support, etc. (ubuntu's wiki has a pretty good comparison).
Anyway, I've put the slackbuild + a quick how-to on my github repo, at:
http://github.com/abrouwers/ajb_slac...e/master/grub/
or, via git:
git clone git://github.com/abrouwers/ajb_slackbuilds.git
Obviously, changing bootloaders can be a risky operation, so only attempt if you've got a spare machine, or want to play around a bit (and understand how to repair, in case something goes wrong).
Feel free to send any comments or suggestions, or poke me freenode (thrice).
Enjoy!
