Several months ago we had a discussion about providing a splash image with GRUB.

Edit: with additional reading my understanding is that gfxboot can be used with lilo too. Therefore the thread title is somewhat misleading.

I would be grateful if any Slackers would share their experience working with gfxboot/gfxmenu, which is far more aesthetic than just adding a background splash image.

As far as I can tell the patch was created originally from the Suse folks, but I'm still trying to put a picture together with all of this. Hopefully the result will be a modified GRUB build script. This is a bit over my head so I'm grateful for any discussion.

I am aware I am in a slack forum....and you appear to be wanting build scripts.

but if interested there may be an easier way....build a gfxmenu ....test it...or let others test it and then ask Pat to mirror it?
