Graphical LILO not working

OK i've followed the threads at the top showing how to do some nice setups for Slack. Now when i come to the Graphical interface for LILO, it wont work!!!. here is my lilo.conf:

# LILO configuration file
# generated by 'liloconfig'
#
# Start LILO global section
boot = /dev/hdb1
#compact # faster, but won't work on all systems.
prompt
timeout = 600
# VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x256
vga = 788
# ramdisk = 0 # paranoia setting
map = /boot/map-bmp
install=/boot/boot-bmp.b
bitmap = /boot/logo64a.bmp
bmp-colors = 15,,0;5,,15
bmp-table = 59,5,1,18,
bmp-timer= 66,28,6,8,0
# End LILO global section
# Linux bootable partition config begins

image="/boot/vmlinuz"
root="/dev/hdb1"
label="Slackware"
read-only # Non-UMSDOS filesystems should be mounted read-only for checking
# Linux bootable partition config ends
# Windows bootable partition config begins

other = /dev/hda1
label="WindowsXP"
table = /dev/hda
# Windows bootable partition config ends
image="/dev/hda1"
root="/dev/hdb1"

ok, im pretty sure that the image part is correct, but i still get the LILO red screen. Also i believe its not picking up the conf file b/c i specified my timer for 600 and it is still at 300 (30 secs). Is there something im doing wrong? tia

I am not sure what you are expecting but lilo does not have a beautiful login in screen. Mine has some red and gives you your choices. YOu think this is spartan look at the freebsd boot loader, you don't even get the red. Are you running lilo after making changes.

yes i have made changes. You can have a better looking lilo, look at the "This is how i do it all" sticky, here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=174447
He details how to make it look nice but it didnt work for me. Changing my lilo.conf didnt even modify the timeout
