GPG encryption in Claws Mail 3.7.8, Slackware 13.1

Hi all,

I can't encrypt my e-mails in Claws Mail (3.7.8, slackbuilds.org) on my Slackware 13.1 system. I have the PGP/Core and PGP/MIME plugins loaded. I can verify the signatures of incoming messages and sign outgoing messages, but not encrypt them. Even though there is only one key associated to the recipient's email, Claws can't find it and the "Select Key" dialog displays an empty list of keys. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this? I couldn't find anything useful in Google, which lead me to think that I must be doing something wrong.

It works here, and I don't recall having to do anything special. I do have all of the various PGP plugins loaded though - I know there was a reason, but I don't recall what it was now :)

Hi,

I am so new to pgp/gpg. Hence forgive my ignorance if im wrong. When you generate a gpg key, shouldn't this be compatible for encrypting. Because can't we generate keys which does only signing? Have you generated keys that are meant for encrypting (DSA and Elgamal)?

Regards,
Kurian Thayil.

Yes Kurian, actually I've just realized that myself. Somehow the key I generated using Kgpg was a sign-only key. I generated a new encryption-capable key and all is working now. Thanks for all the comments.
