Google Chrome and vlc-mozplugin

I have vlc and vlc-mozplugin installed. Everything works fine in Firefox. However, when I try to open an .mpg or .wmv movie in Google Chrome, the browser says that the plug-in is missing.

I've checked aboutlugins in Google Chrome, and the vlc-mozplugin is detected and is active. When I run google-chrome from a terminal and try to play a video, I get the following error message:

Code:
[3196:3255:847509015:ERROR:net/base/x509_certificate_nss.cc(564)] No EV Policy Tag
[3278:3278:857019397:ERROR:base/native_library_linux.cc(32)] dlopen failed when trying to open libGLESv2.so: libGLESv2.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
nv50_screen_get_param:162 - Unknown PIPE_CAP 11
[3278:3278:857324628:ERROR:chrome/gpu/gpu_info_collector_linux.cc(84)] Fail to dlopen libpci
I don't receive any errors when running firefox from the terminal and playing a video.

I don't understand why I should copy the plug-in to opera.

The google-chrome package I got from slackbuilds converts a source meant for Debian into a slackware package. I guess it is not possible under such circumstances to guarantee that such a package will run out of the box for every slackware computer.

In my case, I needed links to the library files used by firefox before I could run chrome. These are the commands I used:
Code:
ln -s /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/libnspr4.so /usr/lib/libnspr4.so.0d
ln -s /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/libnss3.so /usr/lib/libnss3.so.1d
ln -s /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/libnssutil3.so /usr/lib/libnssutil3.so.1d
ln -s /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/libplc4.so /usr/lib/libplc4.so.0d
ln -s /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/libplds4.so /usr/lib/libplds4.so.0d
ln -s /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/libsmime3.so /usr/lib/libsmime3.so.1d
ln -s /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/libssl3.so /usr/lib/libssl3.so.1d

I don't have an nss issue since I have mozilla-nss and seamonkey-solibs both installed.
