I'm attempting to install Gnome through GSB. The installation instructions how to install from their website don't work for me.

Do I need both gsb-0.1.90.tar.bz2 and the frg-0.2.0-2.10.0.iso?

Where do I save them? Does it matter?

They say to mkdir and mount via normal user ($)... I thought only root could do that...?

I do okay with this stuff as long as I stay in my comfort zone... this is far away from where I can get a grip on it.

Can anyone give me a hand? Thangew!

Burn a CD with frg.iso

After that mount it and follow the
instructions. It work great for me.

Installation Instructions

1. Download the iso and md5 sum file: FRG ISO, then check the iso;

$ md5sum -c file.iso.md5

2. mount the iso;

$ mkdir /mnt/iso
**How do you mount/mkdir as a normal user? ($)

$ mount -t iso9660 file.iso /mnt/iso -o loop
**"File "file.iso" not found..."

$ cd /mnt/iso

3. Then run either;

$ ./min_install.sh

or

$ ./full_install.sh

or manually use;

$ upgradepkg --install-new

The directory /mnt/iso is read-only. Am I supposed to copy the frg.iso to /mnt/iso?

This is one of the few times where absolutely nothing in an installation script is working...

I think I've got it figured out... mount the cd, then there are installation instructions on the cdrom.

It didn't say ANYTHING about that on the website.

...sheesh, if this was easy, anybody could figure it out, I guess...

If you dont want to burn the iso, as root do:
(You must be root to install/upgrade packages)

mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop=/dev/loop0 file.iso /mnt/cdrom

cd /mnt/cdrom
sh ./frg_full_install.sh
if you want the full install...

If you download the latest iso, the name of the file
must be:

frg-0.2.0-2.10.0.iso

Or like I said above, burn the iso, you can use
xcdroast or k3b, k3b is more user friendly.

That is just exactly what I did... I downloaded it on another machine that had a cd-burner and I figured out how to install it by accident. It would have been nice, had the so-called FAQ given more than incomplete information.

Freerock gnome 2.10 is very nice, by the way.
