Gnome gsursor compile multiple questions

Hi all, I have slackware 13 with Gnome slack build on it. Now I want to install a small program called gcursor to change the cursor icons.

But it requires gtk sharp and Mono installed and both of them is not in slack. So I tried in slackbuilds.org but couldnt find any packages over there. So only option is to compile them from source. Now I tried that but it has a dependency question -- How to compile? Now I know the regular stuff like untar source, cd to dir, read README, do ./configure then make then su and then make install. Now when I try to ./configure mono, it gives an weird error message! how do i tackle that problem, do I have to learn any kind of language to run ./configure ? If so then please suggest me good books for them, I wil need to learn at some point to install from source to be a true linux user or get my work done

Thanks in advance.

Mono and anything that depends on it were not included in the 13.0 repo. You can try the mono and gtk-sharp from the 12.2 repo.

Thanks for saving me a headache Installing from repo is easy. Will try if that works with GSB.But however the question still remains, how to compile my own stuff! Especially to understand the ./configurre file to install anything from source.

For eg: when i try to ./configure mono that I downloade, it throws the following message:

"./configure: line 40834: syntax error near unexpected token `('
./configure: line 40834: ` case $as_nl`(ac_space=' '; set) 2>&1` in #(' "

Now thats not even a hint if a dependency module is missing or what?

any explanation is greatly appreciated.

I think, that this is fixed by this patch from GSB:
http://www.slackware.org.uk/gsb/gsb6...ure.in.diff.gz

In this directory You have complete mono slackbuild with all necessary files.

Enjoy

Edit: now I check the slackbuild.org repository, and they will also provide the same patch
