Unhappy gnome (dropline) smb password

Hi everyone,

Got two questions!

1. I've tried doing a "smb://server/folder" in nautilus with dropline gnome in a password protected folder, and the ususal password dialog box pops up. However, what bugs me a lot is that every file or folder I want to open also requires me to reenter my password in order to gain access to this.

Does anyone know how to stop this? In windows, you'd just have to do a \\server\folder and punch in the password once.

I know I could do a smbmount, but I'd rather not, since the files I need to use are spread through multiple servers.

2. This computer that I'm working on is a Dell Inspiron 600m. I managed to get it to boot up okay, but I the beeps in the console is WAY too loud, which is especially noticable when I'm in the library. Is there any way I can turn this down?

Thanks! I desparately need answers to this!
