Gnome 2.6 applet - Volume Control 2.6.1 will not slide and stay in position

ISSUE:

Gnome 2.6 applet - Volume Control 2.6.1 (Volume Control) will not slide and stay in position.

SUMMARY:

After running Swaret, I launched Gnome 2.6 and I have all of my system and Windowmanager sounds. I can even play MP3s in XMMS and hear everything loud and clear.

However, when I click and drag the slider on the Gnome applet Volume Control 2.6.1 it will slide but it will not stay in postion and basically snaps back to zero.

Before, I ran Swaret, it did stay in position and I still had sound as I still do.

I am logged in as a user or root and it works the same, able to hear everything but the Volume Control 2.6.1 (Volume Control) applet will not slide and stay in position.

I had ran chmod 666 on /dev/mixer and /dev/dsp.

QUESTION:

I do understand that this is probably a result from running Swaret, however does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you for reading this post.
