GLXGEARS won't start

I have both 2.6.1 kernel and Nvidia and as far as I can see, everything is working except one thing.
When I try to run glxgears, I receive this message:

~$ glxgears
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

I don't have a clue to what this means. Is it possible to get a helping hand from you guys?

Did you uncomment the line Load "glx" in your /etc/X11/XF86Config?

.........In your xf86config file, include this in: Section "Device" right under "Driver"

Code:
Option "IgnoreEDID" "1"
