I didn't use Gimp too much since last update, but now I'm using it I found something really annoying. When I rotate or scale a layer It is extremely slow.

I tried to remove completely Gimp and install it again, tried with different users, tried in KDE and XFCE, but nothing solves the problem.

Can anyone confirm I am not the only one with this problem?. To reproduce it just create a new image, create a new layer and try to scale the new layer, If you zoom in it gets even slower.

I am using 32bit -current version and NVIDIA proprietary drivers.

Gimp uses the CPU and not the GPU
how many cores is your install using

my 4 core( i5 cpu) 64 bit os rotates a 16384x8192 grayscale image by 15 Deg in 90 seconds

Hi, my CPU is Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4600 @ 2.40GHz. With previous versions of Gimp I didn't have problems.

Right now I tried to downgrade to 2.8.2 but It still having problems. Any suggestion?

Anyway I will keep looking for a solution and If I find where is the problem I will post.

Try reinstalling your Nvidia drivers ..

I also had some funky problems after current update and reinstalling sorted all my problems ..\

I usually don't reinstall when I have a problem, but It seems I have installed some unofficial packages and there was something wrong in my installation, so a fresh install solved all problems .

well gimp now depends on GEGL and BABEL
so if those( or their dependencies) got switched to a slightly different version ? it might have some issues
