gfloppy dos 8.3 fn
 

Hi,

I am using Slackware 9.1. When I used gfloppy to format my floppies using DOS (FAT) fs, I noticed the following.

I copied some files in a windows(nt4) system to the floppy. when i mounted the same floppy in slackware, the filenames contains only 11(8.3) characters, as DOS would show them.

Formatting the floppy in different distro doesn't cause this problem. whats the techie stuff behind this??????
