Game UT2004 OK
Once more, Slackware multilibs v14.0 works fine for UT2004, of course if you install the native Linux version (OpenGL).
One good news too : the necessary Megapack ( ut2004.megapack-english-3.run) installs itself fine too, so no PATH problem !
Don't forget to edit UT2004.ini file : UseRenderTargets=True, to get vehicles shadows .

Doesn't UT2004 come with 64-bit binaries? So why do you need multilib?

I installed multilibs for Skype and Google Earth, not particularly for UT2004, but I was glad for the .run of the Megapack, impossible (for me) to find the right PATH when I installed it manually.

I use 32 bit Slackware 14.0, so UT2004 has been running fine for several days. I have long forgotten which UT2004 installer I use as I just keep the lot on a separate /usr/local partition and then just symlink to libopenal, libSDL, etc... I think it was the latest patch version just extracted and then the files copied over from the installation media (the disc I have does not work with any other type of installer as it's the "midway" release).
For the paths problem, I'm just lazy and make a shell script to cd to the ut2004/System directory and run the program.
If you have multiple cores the game can have slowdown issues, so it's best to run it on CPU0 using taskset. At the moment I only have a single core so no problem for me...
I've used the 64 bit binary in the past and it works fine.

I have kept the original DVD, almost a collector now, which has the native game version for Linux/OpenGL, and at the installation with Slackware I get the original interface, so with the choice of languages and all, and the original interface too for the megapack, that is fine.
An advantage for Slackware which has the basic packages !
