Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I had modified the gaim notification plugin in a previous version of gaim (before the URGENT message implementation) so that it changes the text from the normal title to something else (set in options) and back. It was a form of flashing and worked rather well. The plugin didnt work in newer versions of gaim so I have updated it to Gaim 1.0. (Let me know if anyone wants it and I will post it.)
The only problem with the URGENT hint is that KDE/XWindows/Something only flashes the taskbar 3-4 times, then the tab just stays highlighted. This will not get my attention unless I happen to look at it during those 3-4 flashes, so I want to upadate the plugin so that it toggles the URGENT message as well as the window title. For some reason when I toggle the URGENT message off, nothing happens. The tab stays highlighted as if it were still URGENT. It doesnt go away until the window actually recieves focus then loses it again. Does someone know if this is a KDE limitation or an XWindow limitation or what?
